Cocktailr is a web application that shows users how to make cocktails at home. Not only does it display the ingredients and instructions, but it also shows the user how much the cocktail costs to make using data from the Dan Murphy's Website.

The user is shown the cocktail recipe and then given the choice of a few different brands of the same ingredient. They can then select the ingredients they want to use and all the prices and quantities will be accumulated. Finally the cost per cocktail is shown, along with the amount of standard drinks the cocktail contains.

I had the idea for this project while I was working at Dan Murphy's and customers were asking how many cocktails each bottle of liqueur would make. I thought it would be a great idea to make a web application that would do this for them, and also inform them of how much it would cost to make.

Another driving idea behind the project was the price of cocktails at bars and restaurants. All of the ingredients in the cocktail are public knowledge, but the ridiculous markup gets obfuscated by the sheer amount of ingredients and the brand of ingredient used. They often end up being the same brands that are available in any liquor store. So to encourage people to make cocktails at home, I thought it would be a good idea to show them how much money they could save by buying their own ingredients

I know that Tiny Disco is running the Dan's Daily campaign, which is a blog about all things drinks. They set the stage as an avant-garde and experimental advertising agency, with creative ways to express and develop the Dan Murphy's brand for a younger generation. If they were able to use the Dan Murphy's API to get the prices of the ingredients, then they would be able to make use of this rudimentary web application and tie in its capabilities with their cocktail recipes
